Generation Connected
Gest Speaker Dietmar Dahmen opened my eyes to society's demand for technology. We live in a world where everything has to be new or even newer than new. As Dahmen mentioned in his speech the trend of "Nowism" and "Firstism" play a huge roll on consuming. Products are sold out before they even exist in stores because of pre-order options. People line up in front of stores just so they can have the first next thing! I find it ridiculous that people actually camp out in tents on the evening before the release of new technology, especially when they can wait a few months for the store to restock for the same exact item. From my experience, I've had a basic talk and text phone for over four years and in those four years I've seen Smartphones upgrade from the very first IPhone to today's IPhone 5. Excited as I was to receive my first smartphone (IPhone 5), I can't help but think of how new and what "revolutionizing" technology the IPhone 5s will have a few months from now.
